About Hayes

Actor and influencer Thomas Hayes was an essential part of the massive success of Norwegian web teen drama series and worldwide phenomenon Skam. An alternative reality and celebrity it’s easy to get caught up in, but Thomas has a drive to continue evolving through acting and music.

Ever since childhood he has had a unique and intuitive connection to music, as a way to alter or influence his mood. “When I hear music, I see it.» he explains “Like a photograph, or even a short film”. A form of synesthesia where music that affects him will translate so he even experiences it visually. Drawn to music, he was already a part of a group of music makers and DJ’s before the start of his acting career. And he is well aware of what opportunities and challenges await him with HAYES. “You can’t just create a cool playlist, go to a festival, plug in your Mac and press play. Being a good DJ demands a lot more work. You need more than passion, you need insight, knowledge and preparation.” And Thomas has this, and is focusing on developing it further as HAYES.

Though initially conceived as a straight forward DJ-concept, it quickly became obvious that Thomas has the flair and talent to take this much further. Time spent with selected collaborators has allowed for the HAYES concept to evolve and unfold as organically as possible.

Thomas has always had an interest in production, and the more he learns, the more it fascinates and engages him. ”I know people will wonder about HAYES” he says “and I get that. Am I a DJ, a producer or an artist?” And so far, the answer is that HAYES is all three, in different constellations, depending on the track. “I've challenged myself on levels I never expected. Learning and growing so much in the process." The resulting music displaying pop sensibilities and lyrical depth that may well come as a surprise.

What about music videos? “To share my visual experiences? That is definitely happening.” says HAYES. An upside of the concept being so unrestrained is the possibility of it growing in almost any direction. The only thing that’s sure is that it’s about music, energy and fearlessly embracing challenges to see where they might take you.
